The Journal · recovered voices

The Old World, in Its Own Words.

Salvage recovers more than metal. Among the drives pulled from the archives are diaries, letters, and private records — the testimony of a world in its own words. The Archive is transcribing them, one voice at a time.

A coastal seawall and surge barrier of the 2120s in mist — The Lost Archive, a work of fiction
Recovered imagery · coastal salvage grid. A work of fiction.

On the winter the rain would not stop.

“They keep saying the barrier will hold, and so far it has. Every spring they repaint the line higher and we go on living below it. My daughter asked me tonight whether the sea minded us being here. I told her the sea doesn't think about us at all. I'm not sure that comforted either of us.”

▚ TRANSCRIPTION IN PROGRESS

More voices from those years are being recovered and verified now, and readied for the Archive.

The record advances as the world does.
