LAGOS — The registered climate-migrant count has moved past 124 million, and at a transit hub outside Lagos the figure has a face: Fatima Bello, who walked north with three children when the wells at her village went brackish. "We did not leave because of one bad year," she said. "We left because the good years stopped coming." Hearth Relief International warned last month that the pace was accelerating as heat corridors widen; Passage Trust, which manages the resettlement routes, says the widening is now measured in wells, not maps. Its corridor coordinator, Amara Diallo, reports that shelters built for a season are being asked to hold a year. The Oceanic & Atmospheric Assembly's standing +2.8°C anomaly is the arithmetic behind the walking. "The number rises," Diallo said. "What we owe each person inside it does not fall."
