Q-Net Carries a Record Load Without Losing Its Lock

A month after the Singapore Institute's million-qubit demonstration, engineers say the quantum-secured backbone absorbed heavy traffic while keeping its encryption intact.

Q-Net Carries a Record Load Without Losing Its Lock — The Lost Archive, 2124

SINGAPORE — The Q-Net backbone carried its heaviest sustained traffic on record this month without a single failed key exchange, engineers at the Singapore Institute reported, weeks after the institute ran a million-qubit processor over the same lines. Dr. Wei-Lin Tan was careful about what that does and does not mean. "The quantum layer secures the channel; it does not carry the message faster than light — nothing does," she said. "What we protected this month was trust, not speed." The human ledger sits at the endpoints: in a Singapore relief-logistics office, dispatcher Lim Hui Ying said quantum-keyed links let corridor aid manifests move between agencies without the tampering fears that dogged the old classical net. Tan said the demonstration's value was ordinary reliability under load, and that the institute has no faster-than-light claim to make, this month or any month.
