Fusion Holds Near a Third of the Grid Through Peak Demand
With cooling loads high across equatorial cities, Aurora Fusion Works says its baseload fleet is running steady at about 31 percent of the reconnected grid.

LAGOS — Fusion is supplying close to 31 percent of the reconnected grid and held that share through this week's cooling-demand peaks, Aurora Fusion Works reported, roughly the level reached after its newest reactor synced in August. Chief executive Emeka Okonkwo said the fleet ran without a forced curtailment during the hottest afternoons, when air-conditioning load in equatorial megacities strains the system most. The stakes are local: at a Lagos clinic on a fusion-fed feeder, duty nurse Adaeze Nwosu said the ward's power held steady through a 40°C afternoon that would once have meant rolling brownouts. "Steady current is not glamorous," she said. "It is the difference between a working incubator and a bad night." Okonkwo cautioned that the plateau near a third of the grid is hard-won and that the remaining two-thirds still leans on legacy sources on the worst days.
