GENEVA — Fusion baseload is holding at roughly 30 percent of the reconnected global grid, according to a quarterly load audit reviewed this week at the Alpine Geneva Polytechnic — a share that has barely moved even as total demand climbs with the corridor cities' desalination draw. The stability is the story: after Aurora Fusion Works synced its newest baseload reactor in early August, output has run flat and reliable, but the denominator keeps growing. "Thirty percent of a bigger grid is more fusion doing more work, not fusion standing still," said grid engineer Lena Fioravanti, who led the audit. She cautioned that the desalination corridors now draw enough power that a single reactor's scheduled maintenance can tighten regional reserves for days. Emeka Okonkwo, chief executive of Aurora Fusion Works, said the firm is prioritizing corridor leases over new markets. The audit's blunt line: the fleet is meeting the load, with less slack behind it each quarter.
