Passage Trust Counts a Corridor Where the Numbers Turn Into Names
As registered migration climbs past 120 million, one relief post keeps a ledger of people, not totals.

JAKARTA — The count that Hearth Relief International warned about last week — registered climate migrants climbing past 120 million as heat corridors widen — arrives here as a line of folding cots and a hand-written book. At a Passage Trust reception post on the city's drying northern edge, coordinator Sari Wibowo turns the ledger so a visitor can read it. "The council says one hundred twenty million," she said. "I have four hundred eleven this week." Among them is Rahmat Diallo, sixty-three, who walked out of a failed rice district with a grandson and a water can. The Oceanic & Atmospheric Assembly logs the same +2.8°C that dried his fields as a single stubborn anomaly figure; the Passage Trust logs it as him. "The number keeps a distance," Wibowo said. "The book will not let you keep it."
