Lagos Reconnects Its Last Diesel District to the Fusion Backbone — The Lost Archive, 2124

LAGOS — The generators went quiet at noon. Aurora Fusion Works confirmed that the Mushin district, one of Lagos's last neighborhoods running on diesel micro-grids, was tied into the fusion baseload backbone this week, part of a corridor build-out that keeps commercial fusion supplying close to 30% of the reconnected global grid. For Adaeze Nwosu, an electrician who has spent nine years splicing failing generator lines, the switch meant something plainer than policy: "The children can read at night without the smell." Aurora chief executive Emeka Okonkwo, whose firm has framed the tie-in as proof that fusion can reach dense low-income districts and not only industrial anchors, said the district's 140,000 residents would see grid costs fall by roughly a third. The build was slower and costlier than promised, local officials noted, and thousands of surrounding homes still wait. Fusion is arriving in Lagos — unevenly, one district at a time.
