Somaform's Neural Interface Stays in Review as Users Wait

LAGOS — The review has no end date, and for the roughly five percent of humans already carrying augmentation, that uncertainty has a texture. Somaform Augmetics' latest neural-interface line remains under an open, contested safety review by regulators — neither cleared nor pulled — a status that has held for months and shows no sign of resolving before year's end. "I was told to wait, and I have been waiting since spring," said Adaeze Nwosu, a Lagos logistics coordinator whose interface was installed before the review opened and who now schedules extra check-ups she is not sure she needs. Somaform founder Julian Morrow, an augmentation-rights advocate, has urged regulators to "decide, in either direction, rather than govern by suspense." The regulators have declined to be hurried. Physicians interviewed described the limbo as its own harm: patients like Nwosu are stable, monitored, and anxious, caught between a device that works and an authority that will not yet say so. The review continues. So does the waiting.
