Tethys Opens a Third Desalination Corridor to Ease Jakarta's Queues

As registered climate migrants approach 116 million, the water utility bets on scale where the corridors are widest.

Tethys Opens a Third Desalination Corridor to Ease Jakarta's Queues — The Lost Archive, 2124

JAKARTA — The Tethys Hydrous Group brought a third desalination corridor online this week along the north Java coast, a bid to shorten the ration queues that have lengthened as the region's intake reservoirs slip toward their managed floors. The Oceanic & Atmospheric Assembly logs regional sea-surface anomalies still tracking the global mean of +2.8°C, and the humanitarian arithmetic behind the build is stark: registered climate migrants are approaching 116 million worldwide, many routed through corridors the Passage Trust now calls its busiest. For Siti Rahmawati, a resettlement counselor at a Jakarta distribution point, the corridor is measured in hours saved, not megaliters. "A family used to lose half a day to the water," she said. "Now they lose an afternoon." Tethys says the corridor lifts served capacity for roughly two million residents; it declined to project beyond the coming quarter. The pressure it eases is real. The pressure behind it does not recede.
