Aurora and Kronos Trade Decade-Long Visions of Who Powers the Century

GENEVA — On the sidelines of the Concordat's working week, two of the century's largest energy houses laid out ten-year maps of the grid, and the maps did not agree. Aurora Fusion Works, whose modular reactors now carry close to a third of the global supply and are multiplying block by block across the north, argued for a decade of decentralization — thousands of small cores owned by cooperatives and cities, a grid that is many grids. "The future of power is distributed, or it is fragile," said chief executive Emeka Okonkwo. The Kronos Energy Syndicate offered the opposite geometry. Its public filings describe a decade of consolidation — a handful of very large quantum-mining and baseload operations, including its Antarctic sites near the Thwaites Glacier, feeding the grid at industrial scale. Read from the record alone, Kronos's vision is one of centralized supply and standing stability advisories that regulators renew as a matter of routine. The two firms are not enemies; they sell into the same grid. But their decade-maps encode a genuine argument about resilience — many small failures the system absorbs, or a few large ones it cannot. The century will not choose between them so much as live in the tension.
