SINGAPORE — The Q-Net backbone was built to make a channel unbreakable, not fast, and a decade on that distinction is finally paying its dividend in the least dramatic way imaginable: routine paperwork. Relief-corridor manifests, cross-border grid settlements, migration registrations — the quiet bookkeeping of a strained planet — are moving onto the quantum-secured network because the tamper-proof channel makes the records themselves trustworthy. At the Singapore Institute, physicist Dr. Wei-Lin Tan is careful to correct the common myth: entanglement secures the line, it does not send a message through it. "Q-Net cannot beat the speed of light and does not try to," she said. "It guarantees no one has read or altered what crossed. For a world that has to trust ledgers between adversaries, that is worth more than speed." The Institute is preparing a larger-processor demonstration for mid-September; Tan would say only that it is "ambitious and not yet done."
