Aurora's New Reactor Steadies a Grid That Ran Ragged in the Heat

The baseload reactor Aurora Fusion Works synced a week ago Friday and brought online on the ninth is doing the unglamorous work it was built for: holding the evening peak. Grid operators in the reconnected northern network say the new unit has trimmed the brownout margin on the hottest days, with fusion now supplying past 31 percent of the grid, up from the roughly 30 percent that held for most of the year.
