Traders Position Ahead of Brazil's Augmentation Vote, Still Six Days Out
With the federal ballot set for Saturday, augmentation and insurer shares swing on polls no one fully trusts.

SÃO PAULO — Six days before Brazil votes on its augmentation framework, the markets are trying to price a result they cannot see. Shares tied to human-augmentation firms have moved on each fresh poll this week, with insurers and implant makers swinging as surveys of the Saturday ballot stayed inside the margin of error. On the Cerulean Exchange, one desk described the mood as "betting on a coin while it is still in the air." Rosa Quintero on the trading floor found little conviction and much motion. "Nobody is buying the vote. They are buying the noise around the vote," said Beatriz Salgado, a portfolio manager who has trimmed exposure twice this week. Ordinary savers feel the churn through pension funds that hold the same names. The Somaform Augmetics safety review, still open and contested, hangs over every position. "The vote is Saturday," Salgado said. "The uncertainty is every day until then."
