The First Generation That Must Learn to Be Very Old

We built the therapies before we built the wisdom to hold them. A slice of humanity now lives toward a hundred and twenty in bodies that read decades younger than their papers, and I have spent a career among the archives of how people aged before — and there is no precedent in any of them for this. Every prior generation inherited a script: the shape of a long life, when to hand things on, how to be old among the young. The augmented old of 2124 inherited no such script, because no one before them lived this long in this good a body.
