Quanta Lattice Ships Hardware to Ready Q-Net for Million-Qubit Loads
A backbone upgrade aims to carry far heavier quantum-secured traffic — without moving a single bit faster than light.

Quanta Lattice Systems has begun shipping a new generation of key-distribution nodes to backbone operators, hardening the Q-Net for the traffic that larger quantum processors will soon throw at it, the company confirmed today. The upgrade lifts how many quantum-secured channels a node can hold open at once; it does not, the firm stresses, make the network faster-than-light — entanglement secures the line, it never carries the message. "People hear 'quantum' and imagine teleporting data. We're doing the unglamorous part: unbreakable locks at scale," said lead engineer Priyanka Desai at the Singapore rollout, where the Singapore Institute is preparing to route heavier workloads over the backbone this autumn. With roughly 30% of the grid now fusion-fed and quantum links threading finance, relief logistics and orbital relays, the demand is real. The gain is quiet: not new physics, just more room on a channel the century has learned it cannot afford to have broken.
